Change for the better

There are a lot of people who have influenced my life and changed me for the better. My family, my friends, even my students affect me in positive ways. I tend to see the best in people and I think anyone can teach you things about yourself and about life. The person who has affected me the most is my Mama (my grandmother). She is in her 90s and she and my grandfather have been married for 68 years. You name it and she has seen it or experienced it. I can tell her EVERYTHING. She is one of my best friends, my biggest fan and most loyal confidant. She was also a teacher and motivates me to be the best teacher I can be- although her advice has included throwing erasers at students if they misbehave (lol- times have changed since the days she taught!)

As we go through life, so many people touch our lives- some in minor ways and some in major ways. Just remember, for a little sister or brother, for a friend or a child, YOU might be that person who affects and influences them the most!

  1. I think that it is awesome that you can confide in your grandmother and tell her everything. It really shows how much she means to you because you did not only refer to her as being your grandmother, or your family, but you also used the word friend. That says a lot.

  2. It's wonderful that you have such a close relationship with your grandmother. My grandmother use to sing to me in German and tell stories about growing up in New York City. She always told me about her childhood when I was little. It's important to have someone who is on your side and understands you so well. Cherish her; she's a treasure!

  3. I find that completely amazing and wonderful that you have such a tight bond with your grandmother. I wish my grandmother was still around, we would be just as close as you guys are! You are a very lucky person, I don't have much a relationship with my mother; we dont communicate very well lol but I have learned to deal with it. Thats soo astonishing that your grandparents have been married for 68 years!! NOW THATS LOVE!!! Best wishes to you and your family=) and thank God you don't throw any erasers! =P
